В самом центре Уральских гор на автодороге Уфа – Челябинск, на берегу красивого пруда, окружённого высокими горами, располагается промышленный городок Сатка – один из самых интересных и красивых городов Южного Урала. Здесь на Карагайской горе с 1898 года ведётся добыча магнезита, предназначенного для изготовления огнеупорных материалов. Вывоз камня с месторождения, настоящего огромного карьера, выполняется горной техникой, большими карьерными самосвалами, а также при помощи узкоколейной железной дороги. Железная дорога эта непривычной колеи 1000 мм, она электрифицирована и по ней ходят редкие электровозы из ГДР.
