Today, the scene has turned against the Revolutionary Guard with Al-Shaibani’s visit and the demise of Abu Khadija, whose killing was announced by both Trump and CENTCOM. They stated, "We have neutralized him," implying that the U.S. was responsible for his death, even as Iran and the Revolutionary Guard had been hoping for the return of ISIS—an organization they had originally facilitated in 2013. The U.S. and its allies, who eliminated Abu Khadija yesterday, had already made their security entrance into Baghdad with the arrival of Asaad Al-Hashemi. They are now pressing Baghdad to join the maximum-pressure sanctions on Iran. From our observations, it appears that Al-Shaibani’s visit, which provoked Iran’s loyalists in Iraq—who labeled him "the criminal, brother of the criminal"—could be among the major concessions that Qom is offering to the Allied axis, especially after the arrest warrant for Trump was rescinded.
