VERA WANG AND PAMELA FIORI Discuss The Art of Fashion at Guild Hall On Saturday morning, October 3, Pamela Fiori, co-guest curator of The Art of Fashion in the Hamptons and editor-in-chief of Town&Country will interview the noted designer Vera Wang in the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall. The discussion will explore Ms. Wangs impressive career, her current collection, as well as her vision for the vignette now currently on view as part of the fashion exhibition in the Guild Hall Museum. Vera Wang is an icon in the fashion industry and I look forward to speaking with her about her design philosophy, said Pamela Fiori, This is a rare opportunity for those fascinated by fashion to hear one of the worlds top designers discuss the art and business of design. Vera Wang is one of nine esteemed designers, including Tory Burch, Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Reed Krakoff, Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller, and Elie Tahari, showcased in The Art of Fashion in the Hamptons. The exhibition, on view through October 12, celebrates fashion, art and life on the East End of Long Island. The show is co-curated by Ms. Fiori and Stan Herman, designer and past president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Art on loan from Guild Halls permanent collection, as well as from local artists, are exhibited in vignettes created by each designer, all of whom have ties to the East End. This is the first collaboration of its kind and, as such, sparks with creativity. There is also a pictorial survey of fashions in the Hamptons ranging from 1907 until today. Vera Wang Vignette Statement For me, this exhibit is about the sensuality, charm, and simplicity of the Hamptons. The light, the air, the calm...it represents the other side of the New York lifestyle and a valuable respite from all the excitement and energy of the city. My personal process of creating garments is one that feels natural and organic and truly symbolic of my connection to the East End. The clothes I have chosen reflect the ease and artsy attitude of my design philosophy-texture and transparency mixed with different plays on proportion and fit. A playful yet edgy take on sophistication with an emphasis on detail.
