A Working Class Christmas in 1910 | Who lived in a house like this?
Through Lucy's Lens

Hello. I'm Lucy, social historian, teacher and your serially nosy friend from Birmingham in the United Kingdom. I love to find interesting historical places and museums, and hopefully you will think they are interesting too! I am a social historian so instead of dates and politics I love to research people and particularly love the history of the working classes, how people lived, what they ate, where they worked & their stories .. I love palaces too but you are more likely to find me in the kitchen than the throne room. Lets go somewhere together every week. It's great to have you here as my companion. Hit that subscribe button - it really motivates me and always drop a comment - I love chatting to people from all over the world and we have a great community of history lovers in the comments! I try to upload once a week at 8pm Sunday GMT time, make sure you hit the notification bell so you are the first to know when I release a new video. Lucy :)

In this weeks video I travel back to 1910 to experience Christmas for four working class families. Using the wonderful Black Country Living Museum as a backdrop I visit four different houses and explore Christmas in a simpler times on the cusp of the modern era. Discover how families made the most of the festive season despite tight budgets, challenging conditions and see where some of the traditions of Christmas today began. I'm Lucy, Social Historian and seriously nosy person! In my weekly videos I like to explore people, places and history often focusing of the lives of normal people usually forgotten about. I film, research, edit and script all my videos and hope you enjoy them! Please do join my amazing community of social history lovers by subscribing and getting involved in the comments.
