Hi everyone! My name is Julie and I am passionate about languages. On this channel I am doing profiles of different languages of our planet in order to inspire you to look deeper into them and maybe even to start learning some of them! I think that in the world where everyone tends to speak only one global language it is very important not to forget all the other languages as by learning them you understand the history and the mindset of people who speak them. If you think the same then it's a great reason to subscribe to this channel!

Not many languages can boast about being spoken during the time of the pyramids. But this language for sure can. Not only it was spoken at that time, but it was also written. With the same script that is used today. But wait, it’s actually not one but many languages? And what is the right way to call them? Berber is a name that comes from the Greek “barbaros” and basically means “barbarian” - this is what the Greek used called anyone whose language they didn’t understand. This name kinda stuck with the Berbers to this day, but this is might not be the best way to call people. And this is definitely not how they refer to themselves. The Berbers call themselves Amazigh, which means “free people”, and their language is called “Tamazight”. 00:00 Intro 05:39 History 09:49 Writing and pronunciation 14:05 Native speakers 15:26 Language structure Support the channel here: https://www.patreon.com/julingo #amazigh #morocco #algeria
