🇮🇪 Don't miss this in Ireland! 🌌 Why go An eerie tunnel of twisted beech trees that looks straight out of a fantasy film because it literally is. This is the “Kingsroad” from Game of Thrones. 📍 Where is it Bregagh Road between Armoy and Stranocum, about 50 minutes north of Belfast and just off the Causeway Coastal Route, handy to pair with Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle and Ballintoy Harbour. 🕒 Best time to visit Aim for sunrise or late afternoon on a weekday. You get softer light through the branches and fewer tour buses, especially outside peak summer. 🚗 Parking & access You can’t drive the lane itself any more to protect the tree roots. Park at The Hedges Hotel or Dark Hedges Estate car parks and walk a few minutes to the avenue. Follow the signs and watch for traffic when crossing the road. 🎟 Cost The Dark Hedges is a public road, so walking it is free. Expect a small fee for nearby parking, usually around £4, 5 for cars. 📸 Photo tips Walk the full length and shoot back towards the densest section of trees. A longer focal length (phone zoom works) compresses the tunnel and gives that dramatic “cathedral of branches” look you see all over Instagram. ⚠️ Leave no trace These beeches were planted in the 18th century to impress visitors arriving at Gracehill House (Yes, this was once just a super impressive driveway! 😳) and they are well past normal beech tree lifespan. Stay off the roots, don’t carve the bark, take your rubbish with you and keep it quiet for others! #darkhedges #northernireland #irelandtravel
