I don’t know about you but I have a lot of expectations from Mortal Kombat 2. As a longtime fan, the 2021 reboot left me pretty cold. Like, was it even a Mortal Kombat movie? Firstly, there was no tournament and secondly, they focused way too much on Cole Young, a character no one knew or asked for. It was visually striking and Kano was the star of the show in more ways than one, but then the movie did another good thing… it set up a sequel with an actual tournament. And this time around, we’ve got more familiar characters, including but not limited to Johnny Cage, Kitana, and Shao Kahn. From what’s been teased, there’ll be around 27 fight sequences, more brutality, and actual stakes.
