Asteroids could make us wealthier than ever before.
Description
Asteroids – we’ve held a grudge against them since one wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. But we should probably let it go. Without asteroids, we wouldn’t have water or even life on Earth. So, thanks, space rocks. Now, about Davida – one asteroid worth 27 quintillion dollars. That’s 27,000 times the combined GDP of every country. But why aren’t we mining them? Because getting to asteroids and extracting resources is incredibly difficult and expensive. It’s not like zipping through an asteroid field in a Millennium Falcon. And even if we manage it, it’s still a massive financial risk. Still, asteroid mining could fund things like colonising Mars. But for now, it’s a distant dream – one worth watching, though.
