A fault in some variable speed cameras on England’s motorways and major A-roads has wrongly flagged drivers for speeding. National Highways found 2,650 incorrect activations since 2021, caused by about a 10-second delay between speed-limit signs and camera settings. Police will contact affected drivers, refund fines, and remove penalty points where needed. A temporary fix is in place, but there’s no date yet for a permanent repair.
