But what exactly is it and why should you use it? In this hands-on tutorial, I'll walk you through the main components of Amplify (Gen 1)-starting with the Amplify Console and moving to the Amplify CLI from the Cloud9 IDE (but you can use your own IDE of choice too). We see how to initialize an Amplify project, how to host a front end (using a static website as an example) and then how to add backend components, deploy them to the cloud, and monitor the deployment progress through CloudFormation. We won't build a fully-functioning application, but I'll show you how to get started with the main parts of Amplify.
