Tool-Assisted Speedrun in 47 hours, 41 minutes, and 12 seconds (World Record). I've always admired the https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP-OjHpZfFzPOOKwSR1aXpBvKUSZlNJ77 video genre, which takes systems that have absolutely no business playing videos, and, through sheer force of will, makes them play one really cool, black and white video. As Brian Eno once put it, it's "the excitement of witnessing events too momentous for the medium assigned to record them" (though I don't think he was talking about「Bad Apple!!」specifically). This particular rendering runs at a resolution of 32x32 pixels, and an effective framerate of 5 frames per second, which I found to be just about as low as you can go to still hit all the beats of the original animation. If it looks rough to you, try taking a few steps back and squinting a little. As I mentioned in my last video, one project-in-process is a return to my roots here on YouTube, with a focus on hacking Nintendo LABO controllers to do things their designers never intended. I have a proof of concept, but on the whole, the project is still in the early stages. I'm taking small steps towards my vision, but there's a long road ahead. With this in mind, I've been thinking about making videos covering several of my other completed software projects. Things that aren't quite as monumental in scope, but nevertheless, interesting enough to talk about. Up to now, I've tried to make each subsequent upload a bigger and bigger spectacle, but perhaps that's unsustainable. You may have noticed the framed calligraphy in the final shot, which reads「独創」(dokusō).
