If you need a relational database in AWS, then the Relational Database Service (RDS) is the way to create one. RDS offers support for six different database engines, with Microsoft SQL Server being one of them (and it’s the focus of this video). In this video, I’ll provide a short overview of RDS and why you would use it. Then in a hands-on tutorial, I’ll walk through how to create a new RDS database, with Microsoft SQL Server as the engine. Then we’ll see how to connect to it from SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and troubleshoot some common connection errors along the way.
