This week I traded my big cosy bus for Jess’s tiny but mighty van, and it taught me so much about vanlife. From chimney mishaps in the rain (classic me 🙃) to beds that magically flip from sofa to double in minutes, I discovered just how clever a small van can be. Jess has designed a van that fits everything into a space small enough for a supermarket car park — a bed, a sofa, a log burner, even an air fryer (!!). My bus is bigger, lazier, and built for comfort: 120 litres of water, 800 watts of solar, an oven, hot showers, and a bed I never have to make. Different priorities, different quirks — but both make a perfect home. That’s the beauty of vanlife: there’s no right or wrong build. It’s all about knowing yourself. Love being outdoors?
