This was supposed to be a nice little get away to buy a 1969 Peterbilt 351 wrecker with a 750 Holmes. However, as Murphy's Law would have it in this family, we were cursed before the trip started! Wrecker Rick came down with what we thought was a cold the day before leaving. Two days into the trip we got him tested and it's Influenza A! Day one, Mrs. Wrecker Rick gets a speeding ticket in New Mexico. Day two, Wrecker Rick had flu brain and left the window down to our pick up in downtown Springfield, Missouri. As you would guess, the truck was ransacked in the night. They made off with Mrs. Wrecker Rick's wallet and one of our cameras. Scum bags. After seeing our truck was robbed, we see we have two flat inside dually tires. Spent a half day at the tire shop getting those fixed. Back on the road and headed to pick up the new trailer we need to buy to haul the 1969 Peterbilt wrecker back to Arizona. Spent that night in Rogersville, Missouri. That evening the kids and Mrs. Wrecker Rick succumbed to the Flu. The family spent day four and five in a hotel while Mrs. Wrecker Rick and the kids rode out the Flu. Day six, finally made it to Indiana to pick up the wrecker. Loading it up went smooth and we hit the road headed back to Arizona. Ended up in a traffic delay due to a pretty bad multi tractor trailer collision. Lost a camera off the mirror somewhere along the way and had to back track several miles to find it. I forgot which state we were in though. Day seven we drove through a tornado watch. Then drove through a snow storm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Finally, we made it home to Arizona. Fired ole Indiana Holmes up and gave him a test drive. It was a trip to remember! We hope you enjoy following us as we overcome all the hurdles thrown at us.
