About

Welcome! We are Kyle and Alannah, an adventurous couple who love the great outdoors & the freedom of the open road with our dog Diesel. We left behind the conventional life of the 9 to 5 for a life of adventure, slow mornings, seeing the world, and discovering more about ourselves along the way. It's the kind of freedom you can't put a price on. Our videos showcase the beautiful places we've travelled to and aim to inspire you to take your own outdoor adventures. We travel North America’s most epic routes, share real & raw van life moments, and prove that life is meant to be lived. Thank you for being here with us! Now, let's explore the great outdoors together! 🔔 Subscribe for life on the road vlogs, off-grid adventures, and a front-row seat to the highs (and lows) into our lives!

Video Description

#vanlife #wayoftheroads #bellacoola We finally made the drive to one of Canada's hidden treasures: The Bella Coola valley! We begin the long detour along the Chilcotin Plateau before dropping down the notorious "Hill" (5000ft to sea level in only 18 kilometres). It's definitely one of the greatest road trips we've ever had the privilege of doing and will certainly be back again to explore the wild and remote region of the Bella Coola Valley If you'd like to support us: https://www.patreon.com/c/wayoftheroads (This supports our channel and any upcoming projects/videos) Amazon Store: https://www.amazon.ca/shop/wayoftheroads (some of the gear we use while travelling) Travel Coffee: https://wayoftheroads.myorganogold.com/ca-en/beverages/ Apparel for a Cause (Trading Trails Clothing use code WAYOFTHEROADS): https://tradingtrails.store/ The Coast Mountains are some of the steepest and most rugged in North America. The BC government resisted building a road here, as it would simply be too expensive and difficult to build for such an isolated community that it would be fostering to. It would involve blasting through rock, extensive switchbacks through the sides of cliffs… it would be one of the steepest highways in the province. Before the road, this little coastal village was supplied by steamship along the coast and by aircraft into the valley. The government felt these routes were adequate, even though they left residents cut off from much of the province. Locals, however, disagreed — they wanted the freedom to connect overland, just like any other BC community. About us: It’s now been over a year of living full-time in our little home on wheels. A few years ago, we decided to take a month-long road trip across Canada, which now looking back, changed our lives for the better. After spending so many years dreaming of the West and wanting to experience more of the beautiful country we call home, we finally went for it. However, one month wasn’t nearly long enough, and we spent the next several years creating the blueprint of how we could do this thing full-time. Surely, living in a van and travelling across the country is no longer a new concept, but to us it sort of feels like cracking the code, at least to our version of happiness. We needed to see for ourselves if it was possible to turn our love for travel into a full-time adventure on the open road, to see the world while we still have our health, and to make lasting memories for us to look back on later in life. Money will come and go, but our time here isn’t guaranteed. Come along for adventure as we make the drive in the beautiful Bella Coola Valley.
