Caravanners Try Van Life | Mac & Sarah 2025

Hey folks, welcome to our first trip of 2025! And what's this, a camper van? "Where's the caravan?" we hear you ask! Well of course we're not embarking on van life full time but we have borrowed a fantastic VW camper van for a couple of nights to see what we think of it. You may be wondering why,... well, we've been thinking for a while about changing our tow car and have considered the option investing in something that could not only tow our beloved caravan but that would also give us some flexibility to go off and do shorter trips, including wild camping, in places you can't take a caravan. As you may know from a previous video, we've considered pick up trucks with some kind of camping set up. But while chatting with the team at Sussex Caravans, they mentioned the option of a small camper van, which is something we hadn't yet considered. We got talking and were bowled over when they offered to let us take one away for a couple of days to try it out to see if it's something we like the idea of. So we set about finding the answers to 3 questions: 1 - would a camper van work for us as an every day vehicle AND a tow car? 2 - would a camper van work for us for shorter, possibly wild camping trips? 3 - would a camper van be a good overall fit for us and our needs?
