In this China travel vlog, we visit Guilin, a city in southern China’s Guangxi province that’s famous for its Li River, limestone peaks, and centuries of love stories that earned it the nickname China’s most romantic city. We’ve explored a lot of China - from Shanghai’s skyline to Chengdu’s pandas - but Guilin feels different. The air is warm and humid, the hills rise straight from the rivers, and at night, the whole city glows like a painted lantern. In this video, we spend 36 hours putting Guilin’s reputation to the test: hiking to Elephant Trunk Hill, wandering through the Sun and Moon Pagodas, getting lost on Love Island, and tasting the city’s famous Guilin rice noodles (mifen). But romance isn’t always candlelit dinners and perfect sunsets. Along the way, we find ourselves face-to-face with chewy snails, unexpected hotel gifts, and food poisoning paranoia - proving that sometimes love is equal parts chaos and charm. We also dive into Guilin’s culture: the meaning behind its name (“forest of osmanthus”), its connection to monk fruit tea (luo han guo), and the local tradition of washing your dishes at the table.
