🎅 Christmas at an 1800s Mill // The Christmas Lights of Historic Clifton Mill 🎅 Today we are reaching into my archives to visit Clifton, Ohio, and seeing the historic Clifton Mill light display. The mill is a huge tourist destination in Clifton, and is one of the largest operating water-powered grist mills still in existence in the U.S. The first mill on this site was built in 1802, and provided corn meal and flour for federal troops in the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The property also has a 90-foot authentic wooden covered bridge that crosses the Little Miami River, a Country Store and a 1940s Gas Station. We are visiting the mill for one very special reason: to see one of the finest holiday light displays in the country. Over 4 million Christmas lights illuminate the mill, the gorge, the riverbanks, trees, and the covered bridge. Other displays include a Miniature Village, a large collection of Santa Clauses, and a special synchronized light and music show. At Santa's Workshop visitors can peek in and see Santa working, and watch him "climb" up the chimney to load his sleigh.
