Cleaver Restoration - Mirror Polish & Rare Amboyna Burl Handle

In this video, I restore a heavily damaged antique cleaver and bring it back to full function – featuring a custom handle made from rare Amboyna burl wood! 💪 🔥 What to Expect? ✔️ Handle Removal – The old wooden handle halves were completely destroyed by woodworms and had to be removed. ✔️ Steel Handle Rebuild – The rusted, uneven steel was cut off and replaced with a clean steel section, welded in place. ✔️ Welding & Grinding – I welded the new handle using MAG welding, then smoothed and reshaped the entire blade using a belt grinder. ✔️ Sanding & Polishing – The blade surface was sanded up to 1500 grit and polished to a mirror shine. ✔️ Premium Wood Handle – I crafted new handle scales from Amboyna burl – an extremely rare and expensive exotic hardwood from Southeast Asia, known for its dense structure and wild grain. ✔️ Custom Brass Pins – I turned three solid brass pins on the lathe and assembled everything using 2-part epoxy. ✔️ Final Touches – The handle was sealed with shellac, the blade was sharpened – and the cleaver is ready for action!
