A Colombian presidential candidate is in a critical condition after being shot three times at a campaign rally on Saturday. Miguel Uribe Turbay, a member of the right-wing opposition Democratic Centre party and a prominent critic of the left-wing president Gustavo Petro, was targeted while addressing supporters at a public park in Bogota. Paramedics said that Uribe was shot twice in the head and once in the knee. Uribe’s wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, posted on his X account that he was “fighting for his life” in hospital. Two other people — a man and a woman — were also wounded.
