Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick was a determined politician who had lost two congressional races. When the FEMA overpayment hit Trinity Healthcare's account in July 2021, she saw her opportunity. Then she moved millions through a shell company, recruited straw donors to funnel illegal campaign contributions, bought a $109,000 diamond ring, and won a special election to Congress.
