Croatia on the Cheap: My 5-Day Dubrovnik Travel Story

Heeeeyyy Guys, In this description, I’m giving you all the details of what I did during this trip — what you should do, what you should avoid, based on my personal experience. I really hope it helps you! Getting There: When you arrive, grab a shuttle bus ticket at the airport, take an Uber, or rent a car. I couldn’t find any other way to get into the city. The shuttle cost me €10 and was pretty crowded. If you’re traveling with big luggage or with more than three people, I recommend taking an Uber. Old Town: Walk around, explore, and avoid tourist traps. You might want to go back a few times — it gets very busy at night. There are nice pubs inside, but most are overpriced. Mlinar Bakery: Not really the best pastry place, also overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re super hungry — then it’ll do the job. 🔗 Mlinar Bakery Bellevue Beach: Super beautiful but very small. If you go early in the morning you’ll get more sun; later in the day you’ll have less sun but more space. Konzum Supermarket: Good prices. If you’re lucky to have a Maxi Konzum nearby, they have lots of options and local products. Great for healthy snacks or recharging your supplies. Dubrovnik Pass: Worth it if you plan to walk the City Walls. Otherwise, skip it. 🔗 Dubrovnik Pass Uje Olive Oil Shop: A very cute store with fair prices. 🔗 Uje Olive Oil Shop Holy Burek: The best Burek I’ve ever had in my life! It cost me €7 but was totally worth it. City Walls: Try to go around 5 or 6 pm — less crowded and not as hot. Heritage of Dubrovnik: A nice, cozy restaurant inside the Old Town serving actual local meals with good wine and honest prices. I had the Pašticada with homemade gnocchi and it was delicious. 3 Elaphiti Islands Boat Tour: The one I booked isn’t available on Booking.com anymore (and I understand why — probably too many complaints). I don’t have a specific one to recommend, but check reviews carefully and go for one with good ratings. It’s a must-do when you’re in the city. Gruž Market: I think I arrived too late — there was basically nothing left. If you want to check it out, go before 10 am. Fast Food Turist: A hidden gem for Burek! Honest Price and it was definately one of the best I had in my life.They don’t have a website, so here’s the address: Ul. Padre Perice, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia. Banje Beach: The closest beach to the Old Town — very beautiful but also very crowded. You can usually find a spot on the rocks (it’s a rock beach). Lapad: Another neighborhood, perfect for chilling and relaxing away from the crowds. Sunset Beach: Super chill and quiet beach with cold water — perfect for my last day. Pekara Rusica D.O.O.: One of the best bakeries I found in the city. Far from the chaos, really good pastries. No website, so here’s the address: Ul. dr. Ante Starčevića 89, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia.
