Video Description

Where does the German adverb 'gern' stands in a sentence...? πŸ€” A common problem for all level German learners and with this video we hope to bring light to this topic. The adverb 'gern' is very flexible when it comes to its position in a German sentence. However, there are certain rules (as always... πŸ˜‰) which you can follow to make sure you position 'gern' at the right place. In this video you will learn about 5 positions which will cover pretty much any possible situation. Keep in mind that 'gern' can still be placed in other positions, but those positions do not really change the meaning of the sentence. It's more to put emphasis on certain words or sentence elements. So keep it simple and stick to just those 5 possible positions explained in this video and your sentences will be correct. At the end it all comes down what type of German sentence you are using: Is it an affirmative statement, a main or subordinate clause, a question or a negative German sentence? These are the key questions you need to ask yourself in order to know where to position this 'gern'. There are 2 important exceptions which are also explained in this video and of course some bonus tips at the end.
