About

What makes us human? We tell stories. I believe great works of literature tell the emotional tale of human existence as we try to make sense of our existence and the world we live in, thus I consider fiction a distilled form of truth, coming from the depth of our subconscious mind.

Video Description

Dostoevsky’s Demons is not only a political satire but also a psychological drama and a social tragedy set in Russia after the Emancipation of Serfs in 1860s, which is also the golden age of Russian literature that gave birth to three masterpieces, Turgenev’s Fathers and Sons in 1862, Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment in 1866 and Tolstoy’s War and Peace in 1869. Outside literature, the 1860s was also a politically volatile and idea-charged period where westernised radicals fought the Russian traditionalists.  Support the channel ► Monthly donation with perks on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/fictionbeast ► One-time donation on Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/fictionbeast WHERE TO FIND ME: ► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fiction_philosophy ► E-mail: [email protected] ► Audio Podcast: https://redcircle.com/shows/c101a9a1-0e79-4515-bdb8-935f669f8c05 Dostoevsky's other novels: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyKyeehuJVIHt5RkSYxpS2OTkttSfdi-f 🕔Time Stamps🕔 00:00 Background 02:31 Demons Summary (part 1) 10:53 Demons Summary (part 2) 19:54 theme #1 25:09 theme #2 26:46 theme #3 Music: We Are Here by Declan DP https://soundcloud.com/declandp Licensing Agreement: http://declandp.info/music-licensing Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/_we-are-here Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/kNqzp11gXio #dostoevsky #demons #russianliterature
