They are legendary for their Sichuan style noodles and dumplings and I knew it was a place I wanted to check out when I was in Auckland. There are now a number of locations around Auckland, but we’re going to the original location in Mount Eden, Auckland. It’s a humble and laid back, shophouse, style restaurant, full open kitchen, and very friendly. I arrived early right as they opened to try and beat the crow (I read quite a lot of reviews that at peak meal time it can be packed and you might have to wait). You make your order at the front of the restaurant and then sit down. I ordered extra hot dumplings, extra hot beef noodles, and also I wanted to taste the unique Maori sweet potato noodles made dandan style. So how was the food? To be honest the extra hot wasn’t very spicy, could have been bumped up a few notches, but the flavors were fantastic. I especially loved the dumplings!
