Welcome to our first-time watching as we react to Edge of Tomorrow (2014). Edge of Tomorrow is a 2014 American science fiction action film directed by Doug Liman. It's loosely based on the Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the film takes place in a future where most of Europe is occupied by an alien race. Major William Cage (Cruise), a public relations officer with no combat experience, is forced by his superiors to join a landing operation against the aliens, only to find himself experiencing a time loop as he tries to find a way to defeat the invaders. Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson also appear in supporting roles. In Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Earth is under attack by an unstoppable alien race known as the Mimics. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), a military PR officer with no combat experience, is forced into a mission and quickly killed—only to wake up and relive the same day over and over. Trapped in a time loop, Cage gains valuable combat skills with each reset and teams up with legendary warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). Together, they use his unique ability to try and find a way to defeat the aliens and save humanity before time runs out—permanently.
