A country that has been devastated by war, conflict and politics, but also, a country filled with beauty, culture and history. I start this journey arriving in Erbil, Kurdistan, an autonomous region in Iraq that has its own military, language and is a whole new country in itself. Kurdistan has been a well-visited destination for tourists for many years with easy visa on arrival facilities. I actually met a subscriber in the terminal who had also come from Beirut, so I snagged a lift into the centre of town where my hotel awaited me.
