These T Studs are a 1 to 1 replacement of normal 2x studs, but are different for good reason. Wood framing components are notorious for decreasing the actually R value of a wall assembly, because wood is roughly R 1 per inch. T Studs are broken into two parts, a flange and a spline, connected only by hardwood dowels.
