Professor Plummer helped to invent the insulated gate bipolar transistor. He is a beloved advisor and professor, receiving many accolades for teaching . Professor Plummer's work in the broad field of silicon devices and technology has made important contributions to integrating CMOS logic and high-voltage lateral DMOS devices on the same chip. His work led to several power MOS device concepts which have become important power switching devices.
