Inside Ireland looks at life of a typical 13-year-old Irish schoolgirl, Evelyn Folan from Ballinasloe in County Galway. Evelyn is extremely academic - top of her class and with a scholarship to the local convent school - but by her own admission, she is not much use around the house... with the result that her siblings have dubbed her 'her ladyship'. You are much more likely to find Evelyn Folan with her nose in a book than in an oven. The film takes place on Evelyn's thirteenth birthday, when she plays hostess to her school friends, and thinks hard about her future. Evelyn wants to be a nun, and a missionary in Africa, but she has not yet had her calling from God.
