In it we follow Nick Dunne who finds himself at the centre of a media whirlwind. Amy is mysteriously missing and all eyes are focused on her husband. However as we learn things arent as they seem. Amy is playing a dangerous game with her husband which we unravel while watching the movie. Early on though there's a neat little detail that foreshadows the story. We catch Nick going to The Bar and see he's carrying a board game. (2:24) Margot puts this into a pile which i'll talk more about in just a bit. The game itself is then put into a pile of others with these outling the story. Nick's game is Mastermind and this gets put amongst Let's Make A Deal and Emergency. Amy is the mastermind of the plan and she fakes an emergency before offering a deal to Nick the end. As for the baby this is of course for ulterior motives and it's clear that Amy wants to use the child. Its possible that this idea might have popped into her head at that moment or she's trying to manipulate her audience subliminal ways. If you look at the pen top as she mentions it in the diary youll notice it's a stork carrying a baby.
