A Green Beret is a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier trained to conduct unconventional warfare, train and work with foreign forces, and operate in small teams in high-stress, often austere environments; becoming one is extremely difficult, with a training pipeline that includes a brutal selection process and a 1–2 year qualification course that tests elite physical endurance, mental resilience, leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to learn complex skills under constant stress, and historically most candidates—often over half—do not make it through.
