He yelled “come in,” but the door was dead-locked. He couldn’t reach it. He sounded confused… almost delusional. And when I asked if he needed help, he quietly said: “Yes… call someone.” I immediately contacted 911. Police and EMS arrived within minutes — and what happened next is something I’ll never forget. This 80-year-old man was completely trapped inside his own home and had no way out. I’m so grateful I stopped. I’m so grateful I listened to that gut feeling.
