Hegseth blames media, 'disgruntled former employees' for new Signal chat reports

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly sent details of a U.S. military attack to a second Signal group that included his family members. The New York Times and Reuters reported that the second Signal group included Hegseth’s wife, brother and personal lawyer. Hegseth’s brother and lawyer have Pentagon-related or military jobs. But it’s not clear if either played an official operational role in the attacks. Phil Hegseth is a Homeland Security liaison and senior adviser. The secretary’s personal lawyer, Tim Parlatore, was commissioned into the Navy Reserves as a member of the JAG Corps. Hegseth reportedly created the second Signal group chat before his confirmation as defense secretary. And he reportedly used the Signal app on his personal phone, not a government phone.
