“Hero” employee commended after mass stabbing on London-bound train
Description
Passengers aboard a London-bound train Saturday are speaking out about what they saw when a mass stabbing occurred aboard the locomotive. After scrambling to get off the train at Huntingdon station, eyewitness Amira Ostalski detailed seeing the assailant running towards them, as they quickly hid in a nearby taxi before seeing police arrest the suspect. Anthony Williams, 32, is charged with 10 counts of attempted murder, one count of bodily harm and possession of a bladed article. Ostalski also recalled the “calm” demeanor of a crew member who ran toward the suspect to subdue him, while most passengers fled in the other direction. The employee was critically injured, according to UK House Secretary Shabana Mahmood. Mahmoud commended the LNER steward in question, calling him a “hero” for “confronting the attacker for a sustained period of time,” and stopping his advance through the train. Though initially brought on the scene, British counter-terrorism forces determined there was “nothing to suggest that this was a terrorist incident,” according to UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
