For millennia, she provided us with honey, perfectly adapted to the flora and climate of central Europe: the European dark bee. But in the 1970s, she disappeared from many countries. The film includes never-filmed-before scenes, documenting life as it is in a wild honey bee colony. It also shows, how the wild honey bee once lived in our forests, before beekeepers started making the smallest domesticated animal in the world out of it. A life in close association with birds, bats, insects, trees and other flowering plants.
