Video Description

After weeks of work, the cabin is finally coming together. Today, I’m finishing the stone wall that will carry the new wood stove, and bringing heat to the cabin at last. This is one of the biggest milestones in the build so far. In this video, I’ll walk through the full process of laying natural stone: choosing and fitting pieces, working the mortar, jointing, and finishing the wall for a rustic, natural look. It’s a long day of stonework, dust, and late-night effort, but worth every second to finally get warm again. And meet the newest member of the family: Molly, the latest addition to Thompson’s Cabin Adventures. Sophie’s adjusting, and we’re all ready for a new chapter. Highlights For You: -The cabin’s first real heat source -Step-by-step stone wall installation -Natural vs. cut stone tips for beginners -Mortar mixing and jointing techniques Questions For You: 1-Do you prefer a natural stone look or a more refined, cut finish? 2-What’s your favourite method for heating your cabin or off-grid space? 3-Should we have set Molly’s paw prints in the mortar? We finally have heat, but this cabin is just getting started. Subscribe to follow the next phase: stove installation, cabin interior work, and winter prep with Sophie and Molly. Drop a comment if you’ve ever built your own stone wall or heated your space off-grid.
