How to throw taller on the pottery wheel.

hello you dirty potters, how are you today?. In today's video we're going to talk about getting height on the pottery wheel with your cylinders. This is a major problem that I have to address almost every intermediate class that I teach. I'm a big believer in making sure that your clay Wall is even as it goes towards the survivability of your end, mixed trimming all the easier, and saves you more clay in the long run. usually when I teach a class I will watch someone who is having this issue while throwing it and a good percentage of the time it turns out they're just not pulling all the way from the bottom. they are pulling 1/8 of an inch or a fourth of an inch up from what they perceived to be the bottom which in turn leaves 1/4 or 1/8 of an inch untouched at the very bottom of the cylinder. This is the main focus of this video along with a couple of easy tricks to help you get more height out of your clay body.
