I am genuinely going through some things and these games hit my brain WRONG. I am no puritan, but these 60 hours of rolling around in the mud and stabbing zombies in the eye has actually made me mad. I do not like these murder simulators taking the moral high-road with me. Those “come closer, look me in the eye"-things? It’s a genuinely vile story tool and I hate it. I find it disturbing, but not in a creative or interesting way. If you had to watch 90 minutes of gore and depravity like this in a film, you’d hate it. It’s not smart, it’s voyeuristic and disturbing. You do it OVER and OVER for 30 hours. If you play this game for more than 3 hours straight, you require a therapy appointment. It’s not artful storytelling, it’s a $300 million hyper-realistic murder-simulator made by a conglomerate which doesn’t have the decency to be fun or the taste to be brief. I think these games are not smart. I think they are cynical in a deeply-grating and immature way. I am actually going to spend the next half-decade talking about this now, Reddit here I come. I like the moth/firefly symbolism. The rest can get bent. I lost 8 pounds and when I can run in the morning again without feeling like a fat lard then we may revisit this. That being said, my appreciation for the show (thus far, at least) grew IMMENSELY. Episode 3 made me cry, I probably belong on Reddit. I am a SENSITIVE MAN but I go to the gym and read books so this makes me cultured and masculine, actually.
