I Got A Sad Message From My Farrier This Morning & Unboxing A Package I Received To Cheer Myself Up

If you’ve followed our channel for a while, you know how much we’ve struggled with Rudniks feet. When I first adopted him at 11 months old, you couldn’t get anywhere near his front feet without him dropping down into a bow position. If you got near his back ones, he’d drop his whole back end as if he was sitting like a dog. There was no way he was letting you anywhere near his hooves. We tried a few different farriers over the years. The first was a male who left a VERY negative impression with Rudnik. He was very much the ‘tie him in the stall, no food or water for 2 days until he listens’ kind of farrier. Which I do NOT approve of. After that we had some good ones but also some not so good. After some bad trims left Rudnik unable to walk properly even on grass due to being so sore, I was scared we were going to be left fighting these issues for the rest of his life. Then we met our current farrier. She has been AMAZING at getting his hooves into the best shape they’ve ever been in. We’ve had her for over 2 years now and both Rudnik & I have been so grateful for her and the amazing job she’s done with his hooves. Not to mention her and Rudnik just CLICK. So learning that after this next trim, we’ll be losing her - it was an emotional morning. Some may say it’s an over reaction but as a horse owner, finding someone who just KNOWS your horse so well is rare. Rudnik has just fallen in love with her and she’s helped him so much in building his trust in having his feet handled and for that I’m eternally thankful to her. I trust her recommendation 100%, but of course given his past, I am a bit nervous how Rudnik will react for his first session with our new farrier. I’m hopeful that with the hard work Nicolette has put in over the last couple of years, it’ll be a smooth transition to the new guy. Of course there will be an adjustment period but I’m staying positive, for both my and Rudniks sakes But thank you to Ororo for the pick-me-up. I can’t wait to try out my new heated jacket!
