There is also a €48,000 top prize at stake. The venue is the Palacio de Santoña, Madrid, from June 17th to July 4th. If players tie for 1st place there will be a playoff on July 5th. No draw offers are allowed before Black's 40th move. The players get 2 hours for 40 moves, then 1 hour for the next 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment only from move 61. A playoff will feature two 15+10 rapid games followed, if needed, by two 3+2 blitz games. If still tied the players will keep playing single blitz games until one of them wins. If more than two players tie for 1st there will be a mini round-robin.
