Video Description

Developing a makers mindset in the early years promotes problem-solving, encourages critical thinking, and fosters creativity. With inspiration and support from his grandpa, Berton develops creative innovation skills that will pave the way for his future in his grandpa’s footsteps as an engineer. Berton is a 9-year-old student in the Gifted Program of the Richmond School Board of Education. He has exceptional reasoning and problem-solving skills, and excels in math, coding, music and arts. Berton is a talented piano player, and has won several awards. His favorite sports are soccer and golf. He’s inspired by his grandpa and has dreamed of becoming an engineer. He hopes to innovate around technologies that will make the world a better place to live. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
