Inside, nearly every piece of furniture and architectural detail has been designed and built by the couple using salvaged materials. In the living room, a striking feature wall made from weather-worn metal panels—originally part of a garage on the property—sets the tone for the home's material palette. An oak coffee table constructed from deconstructed church pews and a credenza built from bulletproof glass showcase the couple’s resourceful approach to furniture making. The lounge area features a vintage industrial credenza with textured metal drawers and a salvaged marquee sign from a Detroit theater that now serves as a piece of wall art. A chair from their showroom makes a cozy resting spot, though it’s often claimed by their dog, Ginger. At the center of the home is a bar made from layers of Detroit’s past. The stone countertop was salvaged from the Book-Cadillac Hotel, while the wood trim came from the Whitney Building. Additional elements, including factory moldings and glass from a former jewelry store, round out the materials. The kitchen features a 12-foot island built from salvaged pine that once supported a Lincoln car factory. Bo and Kyle paired it with reclaimed marble countertops and placed the sink in front of a large window to maximize sunlight and views of their evolving outdoor space. The dining area continues the theme of reuse with a custom table made from salvaged materials, vintage chairs, and a built-in bench constructed from an old church dance floor. A curated mix of artwork adds color and contrast to the earthy tones of wood and metal. The tour concludes with a look inside their workshop in Hamtramck, where all of the furniture featured in their home was built. The space is both a creative studio and showroom, highlighting their commitment to sustainable, hands-on design.
