It’s traditionally known as a Mayan abdominal or womb massage, a healing art passed down through generations of abuelas and midwives in Guatemala and other parts of Central America. However, it’s important to note that other ancient cultures have their own version of this practice too. It’s used to support fertility, menstrual health, emotional release, and to bring the womb back into balance, both physically and energetically. I was really curious about this practice and wanting to try it because I feel like my womb is an area of my body that I’ve been wanting to connect deeper with. So in this episode of Sky Life, I go to experience a womb healing ceremony with two practitioners Joslyn and Bliss, who have both have received permissions from Mayan teachers of this lineage, to administer this ceremony. This is not a wellness trend or a spa treatment — it’s a living lineage, and it’s important to honor its tradition and indigenous history, and to recognize that many other ancient cultures, have their own version of this practice too.
