Iowa schools' superintendent exposed: illegal residency, fraud, and firearms charge

Ian Roberts, a 52-year-old foreign national, was arrested by the Justice Department on a federal firearms charge after being found to be living and working illegally in the U.S. as the superintendent of Iowa's largest school district. Reports from the New York Post reveal Roberts as a "pathological liar" who falsely claimed to have attended MIT and was involved in two sex discrimination lawsuits. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated Roberts had a criminal record with multiple weapons and drug trafficking charges. Erika Sanzi, director of outreach for Defending Education, highlighted that Roberts lied on his I-9 form about his citizenship and was registered to vote in Maryland, where he did not reside. Roberts left behind over $400,000 in legal settlements in Pennsylvania before moving to Iowa. The DOJ is investigating Des Moines public schools for race-based employment practices, which may be linked to a state law requiring affirmative action hiring plans.
