What's unusual about this drink is how we know about it. Trader Vic introduced it to the world in the early 1940s and there still is no earlier recipe to come out or anything official from the Queen's Park Hotel. The drink remained a popular Trader Vic cocktail throughout his life but had a resurgence in the early 2000s cocktail renaissance where it most likely adapted (or adopted) the now infamous Angostura float and sometimes a light/white rum. The float did exist in many historic swizzle recipes from the Caribbean but not in the Trader Vic recipes. So how did it end up in the modern version of the drink, still not sure.
