It was his sixth win of the season, still one behind teammate Oscar Pastri, but he won’t care about that, as long as he can now hold on to this advantage he has. While Norris should be applauded for his performances over the last three races which have gotten into the position he is in, perhaps the bigger story should be Oscar Piastri. The Australian driver led the drivers championship by 34 points after the Dutch Grand Prix but in the five races that have followed, his form has imploded. He is now 1 point behind his teammate, while Max Verstappen has reduced his deficit to Piastri from 104 points to just 35. Piastri is podium-less in three races, down on performance, and his championship challenge is petering out at the worst possible moment. Having been so steady, so cool, so consistent all season, something must now be going on for Piastri’s season to fall apart. But what is it? Or is his decline completely overhyped?
