Ginzan Onsen is rumored to have inspired Miyazaki's Spirited Away. ♨️ ABOUT GINZAN ONSEN Located deep in the snowy mountains of Yamagata, Ginzan Onsen is one of Japan's most pictureque hot spring towns. Don't let the remote location deter you from visiting, you can access the town by hopping on the Yamagata Shinkansen from Tokyo (3hr ride) and transferring to a local bus (40min). You can spend the night in one of the traditional ryokan hotels, but even if you're just around for the day, there are several places that allow visitors to use their hot spring baths for a fee.
