Video Description
Labour MPs on the left of the party are demanding that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer makes immediate policy changes to fend off the threat of Reform. Richard Burgon, MP for Leeds East, believes his party has not done enough to take on Nigel Farage and that if elections next May go badly wrong for Labour – then it could force Mr Starmer out of office as MPs begin to take the possibility of losing their own seats to Reform more seriously. Isabel Loubser asked Mr Burgon to look into his crystal ball to tell us the future of the Labour Party – and asked him head on whether he was one of the MPs that Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Manchester, said had asked him to challenge for the top job. It's a one mic interview – filmed on the go at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool – so subtitles for Isabel's questions. Do you think Tony Blair tolerated dissent and debate inside the Labour Party more than Sir Keir Starmer?
