Il est dix-huit heures quand la voiture de Pierre Levegh explose dans les gradins projetant comme des hachoirs les débris du moteur sur plus de soixante-dix mètres. C’est l’hécatombe, il y a quatre-vingts morts. Cependant, la course n’est pas interrompue.
